PowderJect Pharmaceuticals Plc is a development-stage drug, vaccine and diagnostics delivery company specializing in the needle-free, pain-free injection of drugs, biopharmaceuticals, conventional and DNA vaccines and diagnostics in dry powder formulations.
The significant advantages of the PowderJect technology drives our mission: making medicines work better. PowderJect's novel delivery technique works by accelerating fine particles of drug to high velocity within a brief burst of helium gas. The accelerating jet is generated within a hand-held delivery device that, when combined with a drug, is known as a PowderJect® System. PowderJect Systems are designed to provide effective delivery of pharmaceutical agents and vaccines into skin and mucosal injection sites, without pain or the use of needles. PowderJect was founded in 1993 to commercialise technology that arose from gas dynamics and particle acceleration research carried out in the Medical Engineering Department at Oxford University. In 1996, PowderJect expanded its platform technology to include methods of delivering DNA vaccines by acquiring Auragen Inc. (formerly Agracetus).
