DIAVIR Ltd. sells a highly specific and sensitive peptide mix ELISA for the detection of IgG antibodies against human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8). HHV-8 may induce Kaposi's sarcoma, multicentric Castleman lymph node tumors and primary effusion lymphoma, primarily in immuno-suppressed individuals such as organ transplant recipients or HIV infected patients. Members of these high risk groups (as well as dialysis patients eligible for transplantation) should be tested at regular intervals (at least once per year). Individuals who are seropositive for HHV-8 may require specialized treatment to increase their immunocompetence.
